Psychoanalysis
Independent Practice
Licensed in: District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia
I have been practicing psychoanalysis, an intensive form of treatment consisting of fifty-minute sessions four or five times weekly, for 20 years. In this form of treatment, I offer the analysand the option of lying on a couch, facing away from me, making it easier to free associate, enter a state of reverie and say whatever comes to mind. The purpose of psychoanalysis is to focus on unconscious mental processes, leading to greater self-understanding, deeper relationships with other people and greater fulfillment in work and professional life. The analysand should begin to notice improvement and changes from the beginning. Gradually, greater resilience and understanding develop. Many of these changes take place outside awareness.
